I know you know that a growing list is essential for success in the online world, but sometimes “list building” feels like an insurmountable amount of work.
It doesn’t have to be!
In today’s Build Your Business Challenge, Actionable Advice in 60 Seconds or Less, I’m going to share with you one simple thing that will help build your list starting today, and it will only take you 5 minutes to implement.
This one’s so easy you can’t not do it!
Are you accepting this week’s action challenge?
First, tweet about it!
Then, declare it in the comments below and go take action!
If you have tips on this week’s challenge, please share them in the comments as well.
Do you know of a tool that lets you bulk upload these messages & schedule them?
If you pay for Hootsuite (5.99/month, I think), you can bulk schedule your FB and Twitter updates. This has been a life, time and energy saver for me!
Thanks for sharing that, L’Erin! Heidi, here’s a video for you on how to do it. http://blog.hootsuite.com/how-to-bulk-schedule/
Hi Jenny,
I am a newbie at this… could you explain to me what you mean by “schedule social shares”?
Thanks!
Samantha
The other ladies here were awesome to jump in. Basically you write your social shares (tweets and FB posts) in advance and schedule them ahead of time using a service like hoot suite. You can schedule them one at a time with the free version; though the bulk upload is an option if you want to pay for the pro version.
Hope that clears it up!
Thank you Jenny! Great vlog this week!
I am with Samantha. I do not know what you mean by “schedule those shares.” And, like Heidi, how do you do that?
Thanks for asking questions! It’s hard to cram every detail into 60 seconds, so the comments are a perfect place to get what you need to take action. Hopefully the comment I left above clears things up for you, Catherine! If not, post your question again and we’ll get you sorted out!
Yes, all of the great advice posted on this thread has been ever so helpful. Though i am not far enough along my entrepreneurial journey to be apply this information, I so appreciate hearing the advice from all of you. Many thanks.
For those confused by what it means to “schedule social shares,” Jenny’s referring to a program like Hootsuite or Buffer. Good luck!
Thanks for practicing what I teach about showing up to help, Sarah!! This is exactly the kind of thing I’m often about. High five!
I schedule all of my social media posts in advance – it’s a life saver! I just haven’t found one that allows for bulk uploading messages.
Hootsuite works, or an assistant. My amazing assistant Mia takes care of the scheduling for me each month.
Accepted and doing right after this!
Excellent!
I use Hootesuite and love it. One day of the month (it usually takes me half a day) I schedule all of my social media shares for the month. Hootesuite allows you to compose one message and share/schedule with all of your social media sites. Super easy and a huge time saver! Great idea to add the opt-in! Thanks, Jenny.
Awesome!
Thanks, ladies. Very helpful!!
Hi Jenny,
This one is so easy…I forgot about it! Thank you for the timely reminder.
Could you give us an example of a opt in share that you think works. I know I think that mine is clunky. In fact, I think its stupid. An example would be great!

Sure thing, Susan! Check this out: https://jennyshih.com/2017/09/steal-this-freebie-ideas-titles/
Hope that gives you some ideas!
Thanks Jenny! How often is ok to promote a freebie?
As long as you’re posting lots of other content (meaning that you’re not just promoting your freebie) and if you’re engaging with other followers and commenters, I think it’s totally fine to promote it at least twice a week. Or even more if you’re really active since there’s so much noise in social media that it’ll quickly get lost.
I had the same question Veronica. Thanks Jenny! I love your 60 sec. videos.I think I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve promoted my opt-in on my fb page over the last year…..that is changing NOW.
Excellent, Gillian! I love action-takers!
Hey There Jenny!
Thank you for your examples…I was being way too serious and unclear. I will use these examples to lighten up and get it done.
As always,
YOU are the BEST!

Awesome, Susan! Go for it!
Thanks for the reminder! Great tip to get it running all the time, without worrying too much about it.
As well as HootSuite (the best all-rounder tool), you can use PostPlanner to schedule Facebook updates in bulk and also you can set it up to auto-republish certain updates every X weeks or months so your content can be recirculated.
If you worry that your fans will get annoyed with the same message – most likely they won’t. With only a portion of your fans seeing each message anyway, when they are online, and with the amount of other information they see on Facebook, they are unlikely to remember an update from you 2-3 months ago (if they didn’t even see it in the first place!).
Thanks for sharing your experiences and insights, Tamara!
Excellent tip! I do it 7+ days at a time. I do it with my blog posts and services, too, though, so a week is more than enough before I wanna take a break. I’ll then come across sweet resources like this post and share them too. Hootsuite for the win! Thanks, Jenny!
Glad you’re doing it regularly! Consistency is key. Keep it up!
