Hey Jenny! Do you mean adding something at the end of our opt in that offers our services? If so I think I’ve done that but need to make sure. I actually need to update my opt in, it’s kinda old but still useful. I get confused though as to what my opt in should really be. Right now it is a sales page cheat sheet for those who want to write their own sales page but what I sell are copywriting/editing services for that exact thing. Do I want to teach subscribers how to write their own page when what I’m selling is services to do exactly that? It seems a bit contradictory and could potentially attract the wrong type of audience. What are your thoughts?
Jenny Shih says
Yes, at the end of the opt-in offer, mention your services.
Your opt-in should be something of high value, something that people say is so good that you should charge for it! (That’s how you know it’s good enough.)
A lot of people get worried about giving away too much, but people feel when you’re holding back the good stuff. You want them to feel like you’re being very generous and giving — that’s very attractive to people looking to hire someone.
A cheat sheet is good, though how can you make it better? How can you make people think “OMG this is amazing” and then go off and tell their friends about it?
You and I both know that even if you give someone a cheat sheet, they still could use some personal attention with writing the copy. So even if you give away a lot, there are always people looking for more in-depth, personal support.
When in doubt, give more 🙂

Jenny (or other smart women!) – could you please give us some examples of what you mean? Maybe links to see people who are doing it right? Thank you!
Jenny Shih says
You can see an example at the end of both my Idea Flight Kit and my System Flight Kit. There’s a page near the end that talks about my 1-1 client work. (It is a bit out of date, but it’s exactly what I’m talking about.)
