1) Going back to school…stressful but fun because I am a proud geek! Also getting to explore a brand new city, meet tons of new people, and visit friends + family at home for 10 days
2) Adding fun things into my editorial calendar! That way they are on the list. 🙂

Now you’ve got me curious, Kait! What are you studying, and what city are you exploring?
Good tip on the editorial calendar. That definitely can help people save time and play more.

1) lots and lots of swimming. almost every day i go to a nearby lake and swim for 45 minutes. in early august a bunch of us are going to swim across it – about a mile – our second annual Great Crossing. 😉
2) i’m not a summer-lover, the heat makes me nuts. so i change my schedule when it gets hot to get up an hour earlier, work until about noon, then take the afternoons off for napping, swimming, matinees, doing things with friends. After dinner I go back to work for 2 or 3 hours depending on what’s going on in my biz, when it’s cool again. (I guess I should say that I don’t have air conditioning in my home office…)
i have been practicing checking in with my gut, jenny, since i took a class with you this spring, and i have to say that i still find it hard to tell what it’s saying sometimes. any thoughts about that?
Jenny Shih says
Sounds like great plans, Molly!
As far as checking with your gut, I have to say that it takes practice! Three years ago I practically had to be hit over the head with my intuition to listen to it. Since then I’ve cultivated a connection with my body so I can hear it when it talks and tells me where to go next.
My intuition speaks to me two ways, one is by “dropping ideas into my head” and the other–more common–is for me to really feel the answer in my body.
Some great resources for learning to get in touch with what your body wants to know include these books:
* These three books from Martha Beck
– Finding Your Own North Star
– Steering by Starlight
– Finding Your Way in a Wild New World
* The Language of Emotions by Karla McLaren
For me, a lot of learning to listen to my body has also been about recovering from PTSD-ish symptoms. Resources for that which have been helpful are:
* Healing Trauma by Peter Levine
* The Revolutionary Trauma Release Process by David Berceli
* Invisible Heroes by Belleruth Naparstek
I’m not sure if that’s the answer you were looking for. If not, feel free to ask more here!

Hey Jenny, great video! We are going to three out of town weddings in the next two weeks! I just got my husband to start camping with me plus he just got a mountain bike and I would like to start a little mountain biking too. I too always love a good self-help book. I just read Gabrielle Bernstein’s “Spirit Junkie” which I heard about from Marie Forleo. Oh, and I’m going through B-school this summer of course and having a blast!
Jenny Shih says
Hey Karlie!! So awesome to see your smiling face here!
Yay for camping and biking, weddings, and good books. Love that you’re loving B-School, and I can’t wait to see what it does for your business.
