Have you heard the buzz about GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)?
Whether you have or haven’t, know this: It’s a big deal for your business.
Today I’m happy to offer some support and guidance as you navigate these new guidelines.
If you’ve joined Get Your First 1000 Subscribers, you’ll find these specifics in Module 1. Just one more thing I’m doing to help my list-builders stay on top of list-building!
What is GDPR?
You can read about it here on Wikipedia.
Who is impacted by GDPR?
Any business owner who has clients, customers, or email subscribers who are citizens of or reside in the EU. If you have an online business, that’s YOU.
What do you need to do about GDPR?
Although GDPR was adopted on April 2016, it’s enforceable as of May 25, 2018. This means, you’ve got to ensure you’re compliant—asap!
What do you have to do to get compliant?
This is the tricky part, especially because there’s so much misinformation out there.
Rumors could be sending you into panic when it needn’t, or worse, they’re leaving you thinking you’re fine when you’re not.
My team and I were spinning our wheels, and our local attorney was no help. (Not because she’s not awesome, she is; simply because she’s a US business attorney, not an international one.)
Then I found Suzanne Dibble, an attorney specializing in GDPR, who answered all of our questions and then some.
She put together a super useful and easy to understand GDPR checklist to get us started—and we’re LOVING it!
Even better, she has a straightforward, what-you-really-need-to-know video training that walks you through the lingo, what you need to take action on, and what really matters (and what doesn’t) for your business.
I’ve been really impressed with the down-to-earth, practical advice Suzanne is giving and couldn’t think of a better set of resources to share with you.
Even better than that, Suzanne has a super affordable GDPR resource pack for online business owners—and we’re using it right now to get GDPR ready.
Important: Your next steps
If you have a website that collects email addresses, you need to get GDPR compliant.
Step #1 – Grab Suzanne’s free checklist.
Step #2 – Watch Suzanne’s no-opt-in-required video training.
Step #3 – Do what we did, making implementation 1000% easier, and grab her super affordable resource pack.
Step #4 – Make a prioritized to-do list based on Suzanne’s resource pack, and take action.
These are the exact steps we’re taking in my business, and they should work well for yours as well.
Happy GDPR implementing!
